CBD Shatter & Crumble: What Are They?
Posted on January 04 2021
Creators and innovators in the CBD industry are constantly finding new ways to tap into the positive effects of CBD. If you’ve been paying attention to the vast array of products in the CBD industry, it should come as no surprise to see CBD shatter and crumble spreading across the market. Unlike more traditional CBD products, like tinctures and topicals, CBD shatter and crumble is a more unconventional way to enjoy the benefits of CBD. Ever since the introduction of the 2018 Farm Bill, cannabis has been gradually incorporated into a larger number of other products and industries.
Both CBD shatter and crumble are considered cannabis concentrates, which means that the cannabis plant has been processed to a point where excess materials are removed, leaving only the cannabinoids and terpenes. Read on to learn more about CBD shatter and crumble formats.
What is CBD Shatter?
CBD shatter is a form of cannabis concentrate made from isolated, pure CBD. The CBD is then infused with terpenes from the hemp plant, creating the consumable product. The texture of CBD shatter can be compared to crystals - they are solid, but brittle, and can be easily ‘shattered’. This format makes it easy to dissolve into a liquid when heated. CBD concentrate shatter contains less than 0.3% THC, which means it’s 100% legal in all 50 states and no reason to be concerned about the side effects of THC.
What is CBD Crumble?
Unlike shatter, CBD crumble is made with broad spectrum CBD rather than pure CBD. In addition to CBD, broad spectrum CBD crumble contains high levels of other cannabinoids, like CBG and CBN. The texture of CBD crumble differs from shatter in that it has much more of a waxy consistency as opposed to the crystalline format. The product is a moldable texture resembling a creamy substance that can be fit into any vaporizer or heating device.
How to Use CBD Shatter & Crumble
There are many different ways to use and enjoy CBD. CBD topicals are massaged into the skin. CBD tinctures or liposomes can be taken sublingually or added to your tea or smoothie. CBD gummies can be consumed just like candy! Using CBD shatter and crumble is an entirely format altogether.
CBD shatter and crumble can either be dissolved into oil or heated into a vapor that can be inhaled. Vaporizing CBD, or dabbing, is the preferred method for these particular product types. The dabbing process is simple:
- Heat the device used to vaporize the CBD
- Cover the vaporized CBD with a dabber
- Inhale the vapors
- Enjoy the benefits of CBD
Are CBD Crumble & Shatter Legal?
CBD shatter and crumble are legal as long as they abide by labeling laws and don’t contain above the legally allowed amount of THC. THC products are only legal in specific states. Be sure to check your local laws and regulations.
